Prosecutor’s Investigator Pleads Guilty To Theft
HONOLULU — A former investigator in the city prosecutor’s office faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday.
Craig Whang pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and two counts of unauthorized use of a computer.
The attorney general said Whang illegally used city resources to obtain gun-related accessories like holsters, lights and an aiming laser. He also used a city computer and Internet company to look for people to serve subpoenas for a private business.
Whang’s attorney said he is hoping for probation and a chance to keep his record clean.
He is on stress leave from the prosecutor’s office.
Whang also faces a fine of up to $25,000.
